Join us for this ongoing, interactive event to help shift the narrative of “criminal” to human being worthy of human rights and dignity.
The exception clause to the 13th Amendment allows for slavery as punishment for a crime:
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
It’s imperative we listen to, and learn from the people suffering the abuse of state sanctioned slavery and support their efforts to expose this human rights crisis taking place within California’s prisons, and elsewhere. Help build awareness and learn how the Prison Industrial Slave Complex affects incarcerated people directly, their families, us and our communities and hear their leadership on solutions.
Our humanity is at stake!
