Liberate the Caged Voices presents:
Virtual Roundtable Dialogues
Gather in UBUNTU for our monthly Roundtable Dialogues!
-- via Zoom Sunday, June 21 2020 at 11 AM-12:30 (invite information below).
This month’s Dialogue will be centered on the Black Liberation commemoration of Juneteenth (June 19), to examine the exception clause to the 13th Amendment, its direct link to legal slavery taking place within the nation’s prisons and what’s happening on our streets- the response to centuries of racist terror upheld by police and prison guards. We will also present and discuss campaigns, led by people inside, that we can promote and participate in to facilitate their release.
Following the spirit of the Prisoner Human Rights Movement BLUEPRINT, we will enter into dialogue, mutual empowerment, and reciprocal education with currently and formerly caged people, to learn the truth of WHO California’s caged elders are, WHY they’re aging in prison and WHAT we can do together to facilitate and win their freedom, and freedom for all.
This is an ongoing learning experience intended to humanize and better understand the multi-layered issues of indeterminant sentencing, which is civil death, and the torture of decades of solitary confinement, suffered by thousands of incarcerated people, that will emerge and unfold through our dialogues. In this liberated space, questions, answers and musings will develop and be acted upon, and we will offer “activities” to engage in between gatherings. There is a treasure trove of wisdom and leadership from the people inside, and their families, experiencing the effects of decades of unconstitutional incarceration, and the ideas and solutions being realized to make real change. They will guide our journey together as we expand our hearts and minds building people power and actions for humanity and freedom.
Hope to see you there!
